In 1966, Kernahan and Rinker Buck flew from NJ to CA in Piper with no radios and a lot of nerve. In 1997, Rinker wrote a book about the adventures in "Flight of Passage." In 1968, my brother and I bought N42736, a Piper Cub (that's a picture of me the day I soloed), so I feel a kinship to the flying adventures described in the Flight of Passage. I plan to retrace their coast-to-coast flight 45 years later in a 1946 Aeronca Champ, that I am rebuilding. Richard R. Haldeman
